This beautifully illustrated picture book tells the story of a little girl who breaks her mother s cookie jar. But rather than tell the truth, she begins with a tiny lie that quickly spirals out of control. In the end she realizes it is always better to tell the truth and face the consequences than to deal with a fib that keeps getting bigger and bigger . . . What happened in here? Mom s face was white. What were you doing? And are you all right? I didn t do it. I thought I was sly. And that was the start of my gigantic lie. I looked way up to the highest shelf And saw a mouse sitting there by himself. He was pushing and shoving your old cookie jar. It was up so high and it fell very far. It broke into pieces all over your floor. I m sure with some glue it will look like before.
