Deborah Lytton

Deborah Lytton is a writer and actress that began her career in front of the camera at the age of six. She graduated from UCLA and Pepperdine University with a law degree. Deborah lives in California with her two daughters. She is active in the writing and blogging community and is a member of SCBWI.

Extended Bio:

Deborah Lytton is a writer and actress who grew up in front of the camera, beginning her career at age six when she was discovered by a Hollywood agent. Her acting credits include five years on the hit daytime soap opera Days of our Lives as “Melissa Anderson” and series’ regular roles on the ABC drama, The New Land and the CBS show, Sara. Deborah was a supporting actress in the Disney feature Hot Lead and Cold Feet as well as made for television movies Haywire and The Man in the Santa Claus Suit. In addition, Deborah has guest starred in numerous television series’ including Mod Squad, Family, The Waltons, The Incredible Hulk, Stone, Next Step Beyond and Streets of San Francisco.

Deborah signed her first record deal with Curb Records at the age of twelve. She went on to sing songs on the soundtracks for numerous films including In Search of Santa, Rudolph the Movie and the award-winning family oriented line of videos Kidsongs. Deborah also performed background vocals for artists such as Belinda Carlisle, Lou Rawls, Johnny Tillotson and Frank Sinatra.

In 1994, Light Records, in conjunction with Curb Records, released Deborah’s self-titled album of contemporary Christian songs.

Deborah is educated as an attorney, having graduated cum laude from both U.C.L.A., where she received a B.A. and from Pepperdine University School of Law, where she received a J.D. Deborah then went on to pass the Bar Exam in two states, California and Tennessee.

As a student of Second City and Groundlings, Deborah honed her comedy writing and improv skills, performing her own sketches and monologues. Deborah’s screenplay, “Bubble Girl,” inspired by some of the works she created at Groundlings, was a semi-finalist for the 1999 Chesterfield Writing Fellowship.

She has been hired to write freelance articles and has been published in Fit Pregnancy (Oct. 2001) and Pregnancy (Oct. 2004 and Jan. 2005) magazines as well as Mothering online (Summer 2006). Deborah also had a regular parenting column running in the Conejo Valley Connection (2006-2007).

Deborah resides in Los Angeles, California with her two daughters and their Papillon, Faith. She is active in the writing and blogging community and is a member of SCBWI. Her debut novel, Jane in Bloom, came in second place in the annual Fuse #8 contest, based on public voting and was a selection in the blog Eating YA Books, 2011-2012 Book Battle in addition to winning third place in the 2012 Truman Awards nominated by librarians and voted on by student readers.

Deborah is available for speaking engagements and school visits.
